Accept no substitutes

I'd read some wonderful things about the effectiveness of St. John's wort for treating mild to moderate depression and anxiety. However I was unimpressed when I tried other products. I then came across an article discussing how any company can grind up St. John's wort put it in a bottle and market it but very few brands have been standardized and used in clinical trials. This is one of those brands and the results I've gotten from it are superb. I have used this product exclusively for about three years and I truly believe this product has allowed me to cope and to thrive despite my tendencies towards anxiety and mild depression. so-so

I started taking these almost 3 months ago hoping to eventually get away from anti-depressants. I have not seen any noticaeble change in my mood. I have been sleeping pretty good (also take something for that). Even though I take something for my sleeping it hasn't always worked in the past. I do seem to sleep better lately so maybe it is helping in that regard. I cannot compare it to other brands as I have not used any others.



UPDATE --- 6/22/09

If Amazon allowed rating changes I would increase mine to 4 stars. Since I thought this St. Johns Wort really wasn't helping me I quit taking it last week. Big mistake!! While I still don't think it affected my mood when I took it I suddenly had trouble sleeping last week. When I laid in bed I felt very anxious and nervous. I had nothing going on that should have made me so worrisome. After a few days I finally remembered that this problem started when I quit taking the St. Johns Wort. I started taking it again over the weekend and my sleep is back to normal. I guess since I hadn't skipped it for too long it affected me again pretty quickly.



I will definitely continue to take this product. I wish it helped in other aspects of my life but I am happy that it does help me relax at night and sleep. (I would make it 5 stars if it helped my depression/anxiety during the day. Since it doesn't I give it 4 stars because of the way it helps my mind when I am trying to sleep.)More detail ...

Not all warts are a bad thing

My husband who has back problems was told by a retired marine officer about the St Johns Wort Oil. Being a retired counselor I know that some of our parents had their children on St. John's wort pills for hyperactivity. This was the first I had heard of the oil. My husband thought it was great. He takes it with him on any trips he makes.

I'm using St. John's Wort to treat/keep under control anxiety/depression. if it doesn't keep up I'm adding 400 mg of SAM-e per day.



anyway 400 mg is still not enough so they are a nice blend :P

Not a 'cure all' but it helps...

I started taking Planetary Herbals 600mg St. John's Wort almost 4 months ago. I was hesitant to buy these pills on Amazon because it didn't have any ratings or feedback but I am pleasantly surprised on how well it has worked for me.



I have suffered with major depression and mild anxiety for years. I found out that it was going to cost me an arm and a leg to see and doctor and get medication (being that I don't have health insurance) So I decided to order this product.



Almost 4 months later I am happy to report that my major depression has transformed into a minor depression - and my anxiety has lessened somewhat.



I have been having VERY VIVID DREAMS. So much so that I was scared that it was not normal to have such vivid dreams. I went off the supplement (as I call it)

for a few days - and that was a stupid mistake on my part. I will not go off this again. My dreams are deep and I can remember them when I wake up. It's very silly to say this - but it's almost a spiritual experience when I sleep.

All my dreams have been good since starting this medication.



My life and my dreams have been improved by this supplement and I have nothing negative to say about it.



Note: I currently take two 600mg pills each evening at 7:30pm (19:30)

I've been thinking that in the future I will purchase the 750mg pills.

the best gluten-free baking mix I have found

My daughter has celiac (a complete inability to eat any wheat rye barley and in her case oatmeal or any of their starches or glutens). Pamela's baking and pancake mix is a real heaven-sent product. It tastes good! Unlike some other baking mixes I have tried. It is easy to alter "normal" recipes using Pamela's mix to have great tasting baked products.
